Superstar Millennium – Core Black/Footwear White-Core Black
Whilst the original adidas Superstar lives-on in sneaker history, the late ’90s reboot of the iconic ’60s basketball silhouette holds something of a more niche status.
Released originally in 1998, the Superstar Millennium sat alongside other modernised versions of signature models like the Samba and Stan Smith. Each sought to rework an icon from aiddas’ back-catalogue and make it fit for modern competition. The fact we’re talking about the niche appeal of these shoes probably explains how well that went.
Like many ahead-of-their-time designs, it took a bit of marinating until we could fully appreciate the design of the Superstar Millennium. The rounded-off design with wavy lines and softer edges has aged well.
