Instapump Fury 94 – Hypergreen/Vector Red-Black
Reebok returns with one of the most iconic and polarising shoes of all time—the Instapump Fury. Released originally in 1994 this design came from the mind of Steven Smith, a designer who also gave us a host of iconic New Balance icons like the 997 and 550.
Unlike the ‘classic’ silhouettes from his time at NB, the Instapump remains one of the most out-there designs to ever grace people’s feet. Whilst many know Reebok’s Pump for the basketball models the Instapump took things farther than ever before. Previously kept to the tongue, the custom-fit of Pump was pushed across the shoe’s entire upper with a full pump chamber running from forefoot to heel.
The kicker is the colours—the fluorescent yellow and bright red is exactly how they sat on shelves in 1994. The wild looks are what attracted people like Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and pop-icon Björk to the model and helps it maintain icon status to this day.
