LD-1000 – Black/Sail-Sesame
Nike continues to dip into its bountiful archives to bring back silhouettes from bygone eras, this time delivering the Nike LD-1000. Originally released in 1977 as a long-distance running shoe, the silhouette was renowned for its lightweight construction and sleek design.
More likely to be worn these days for coffee runs and catch-ups with mates, the new Nike LD-1000 is just as wearable today. The construction features mesh uppers met with suede overlays, rounded out with sail midsoles, white Swooshes and of course the 1970s-spec Nike logo on the tongue.
An extra dose of nostalgia lands on the left insole – which is marked with the Athletics West logo – a nod to the track and field club founded by Bill Bowerman, Phil Knight and Geoff Hollister in 1977.
